Don’t think that applies to you?
I believe it does. I know you love. Listen…we talk about love all the time. “I love my child.” “I love my spouse.” “I love that music.” “I love that painting.” “I love that dress!” “I love this cupcake.” “I love that car.” “I love my job.” “I love …”
The most significant relationship you have is not with your job, a piece of chocolate, bottle of wine, luxurious fabric, intoxicating music, or even with another human being.
Yes, I know ya’ gotta eat and pay the mortgage. But that still isn’t your most important relationship.
I love you…but I love me more.
Getting away on retreat is one way I show myself and the world how much I love me. The photo above was taken on a labyrinth walk. On a beautiful summer day, I made a circular prayer pilgrimage. A walking meditation. The air was warm, the pink stones cool on my feet, and the grass was sweetly fragrant. I silently walked the narrow stone path, and I looked down to discover a heart in the stone. A beautiful simple silhouette waiting there for we pilgrims to find as we concentrated on not thinking beyond taking one step, then the next, and then the next. The stress melts away…only this moment in time exists.
I love nurturing me with silence and solitude. Spending time going within lavishing love on me in body, mind, and spirit to build up ample supply of love for me to share with you.
How does your heart go on?
