The lilacs are blooming in my front yard. I am enjoying the sweet scent of the delicate blossoms as I write this. I’m always excited to see these tiny buds because it is a reminder of my childhood in Minnesota and a connection to home. Spring and lilacs meant that the school year was almost over and the freedom of summer was in the not to distant future.
The daffodils are a riot of yellow and white throughout the Coastside. I’ll never forget the fields of daffodils I witnessed when I spent Spring Quarter in London while a student at the University of Minnesota. Their lovely yellow faces turned up to the sun was an amazing sight.
I’m sure you have new blooms where you are too. Take a walk to check out what is blossoming in your world. Go to a park. Visit a nursery. Home and Garden shows offer a wealth of inspiration and education. Wander up and down the aisles to find out what is new and get acquainted with what continues to be a staple no gardener should be without.
Take your journal…write an ode to Nature…sketch a pastoral scene…write a thank you note to the Universe and feel your stress level drop.
Get out and breathe in the perfume of Nature!
