Do you ever wonder: “What if I blog? Really share what I know, and end up giving away what I’m supposed to be getting paid for?”
I recently had a conversation with a curious soul who was concerned that if she started blogging, she’d be giving “it” all away and there wouldn’t be any reason for people to hire her. She’s just getting started and not at all sure about how big the market is that she is here to serve, or what exactly she is going to be providing. All she knows is there is something more she is compelled to be doing…something that matters…something that makes a difference.
I understand the hesitancy. Just like in the Bush’s Baked Beans commercials, everyone wants to know the ingredients in the secret sauce.
The truth is that you have more than enough information to share on our blog AND get paid for your expertise. You are overflowing with passion and a wealth of knowledge to inform, entertain and inspire your readers.
I’ll say that again…what makes you good at what you do…and will draw clients to you…is that you are overflowing with passion and expertise to inform, entertain and inspire your readers.
So – Get Excited about your writing and share that excitement with your readers on your blog and social media. Give them a chance to know, like and trust you...build a relationship…then they will come to you…hire you and buy from you.
The hesitancy, in my opinion, is that so often overwhelm takes over with the questions of where to start…what to say…causing a shut-down resulting in no start.
In the words of a beloved mentor Mary Engelbreit...Snap Out of It!
Grab a pen, paper and journal and for five minutes don’t think; just write. Write about what is going on in your life, what happened yesterday that surprised you, what you are looking forward to next week, what you want to accomplish by the end of the year, or whatever is has been rumbling around in the back of your brain and demands attention now that you are inviting those thoughts to be heard. I guarantee that after five minutes you will have material for your blog, newsletter, and social media!
I’d love to hear what you come up with. Hop over to my Facebook page and share your thoughts.
