Have you ever been so caught up in what you were doing that you stood up and literally had to unfold yourself? Whether it was from being hunched over the computer, sorting a pile of stuff, digging in the garden, preparing for a presentation, or whatever keeps you focused and motionless. You obviously were passionate about what you were doing and your physical discomfort, although temporary, was not going to deter you from completing your task. But now that the task has been accomplished…take a few minutes to consider how to reward your body for all it does to allow you to share your gifts…nurturing the writing and the writer.
Sometimes my shoulders feel like they are in a vice grip. Do your shoulders ever need to loosen up? That’s where we carry the weight of the world. When I really treat myself, I get a massage. Have you ever had a hot stone massage? It is absolutely the most incredible experience. Actually, it’s hot stones first and then cold stones. The stones penetrate every cell in your body. Your stress just melts away.
Don’t forget to pamper your hands! Whether you write with a pen or on a keyboard, your fingers, wrists and past your elbows should be worked as well. If I can’t get in to have a full body massage, I’ll head to the nail salon for a mani-pedi. Besides having pretty hands and feet, the gals usually give a nice foot rub and hand massage as part of the mani-pedi.
I told you about two of my favorites. How do you nurture yourself?
