Extraordinary Ordinary Days…

fall leaves 2Did you know October* is filled with opportunities to educate, inspire and inform yourself?

My purpose in pointing this out to you is two-fold. (1) if you ever crash about wondering what on earth you are going to write about on your blog…start with a comment about the monthly “celebration,” and (2) my demonstration on how to take that monthly designation as a link between general information and your personal story.

Bake and Decorate Month, Natl General:  Here we are on the eve of the Holiday Season with it soon to be Halloween, followed by Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. Plenty of stories about dressing up, favorite treats, holiday traditions, and making plans for new beginnings. Personal:  Baking is a very important part of the holidays for me. My family especially looks forward to Grandma’s Yucky (yes, Yucky) sugar cookies. You’ll have to tune in to another blog to find out why they are called Yucky.)
Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Natl General:  One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.  Personal:  I have come to view my two breast cancer episodes as gifts because they have brought me clarity about how precious life is and there is no time to delay in living a life unleashed!
Care Care Month General:  Cars…American pastime for young and old…what to buy, how they drive and how to take care of them. Personal:  My first car was a hand-me-down Baby Blue Chevy from my brother who was going into the Army. I felt very fortunate to have it because it was an automatic…a true blessing. Everything else on the farm was a stick shift!

General:  If you could designate a month, what would it be? Why did you choose this subject to have a special month? Why is it significant to you? What’s your story about this month?
